Medical Officer
Inpatient Service, Hawera Hospital in South Taranaki Taranaki District Health Board NEW ZEALAND
This is an exciting prospect for an experienced doctor who is able to work in a Satellite Hospital.
We are seeking applications from medical practitioners with an interest in internal medicine to join the team at the new Hawera hospital. This hospital provides a comprehensive range of services; emergency department , maternity, mobile surgical services , inpatient and a range of outpatient and community services complemented with external services from the Base Hospital in New Plymouth (one hour away).
This position supports two other full time medical officers in the inpatient area ( 1:3 call ) and works with a team of ED doctors. The inpatient team falls under the umbrella of the Internal Medicine Department at Base Hospital . The twenty one beds of the inpatient area are used flexibly as follows: • 2 monitored beds • medical • post surgical • assessment, treatment and rehabilitation • palliative
There is opportunity for continuing medical education locally, in peer groups, and to up skill and train in areas of interest with short periods of attachment at Base Hospital. There is also an allowance to attend medical conferences both nationally and internationally, as well as assistance towards relocation expenses.
