Specialist Anaesthetists or Provisional Fellows

(Fixed Term for 12 months, covering Parental Leave)
The Provisional Fellowship post is intended for anaesthetists in training who have passed the final examination of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) and are within one year of completing training. Applicants who have similar experience and qualifications but are not trainees of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists are welcome to apply.
You should have a qualification recognised for vocational registration by the Medical Council of New Zealand if applying for the specialist position.
The Department provides anaesthesia services for the Canterbury District Health Board, which is the main tertiary referral centre in the South Island. Surgical services include all the main surgical specialities including Cardiac surgery, Neuro surgery, Paediatric surgery and Plastic and Reconstructive surgery. The Anaesthetic Department also provides services to the Spinal Injuries Unit at Burwood Hospital and runs a Hyperbaric Medicine service.
It is accredited by the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists for anaesthetic training, including the Provisional Fellowship Year and has close links to the Christchurch Clinical School of Medicine.
